The Institut Valencià d’Investigació Cooperativa en Física Avançada, IVICFA, represents a Network of 18 Research Groups of Excellence covering Physics Research in 5 major areas: Astronomy, Supercomputing and GRID, Medical Physics, Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics.
It was created and accredited in 2012 within the framework of the ISICs Programme of ‘Generalitat Valenciana’ (Valencian Regional Government), an initiative aimed at enhancing research of Excellence in all science disciplines, by promoting and supporting cooperation among groups that conduct research in diverse fields.
Since connections across these groups’ different lines of research define new scenarios where potential synergies can be exploited, cooperation plays an important role enabling them to share knowledge and develop further beneficial relationships which would place these group achievements at the very forefront of Physics.
